With economy as our catch-phrase for vacations, Key West offered the convenience of the Sugarloaf Key KOA campground just 20 miles from Key West. A great site with clearwater beach (the only Keys KOA right on a beach), pool, and nice trailers for rent onsite. Renting the trailer allowed us to fly down, rent a car, and enjoy cheap accommodations with kitchenette and easy access to all the "Key" attractions.
One excursion was a reef snorkeling trip out of Key West on the catamaran Fanta-Sea. It's a little surprising some of the shots you can get with those cheap, disposable, underwater cameras. Here are some of the better ones that transferred okay. A couple that didn't turn out quite clear enough for the computer were a 5' barracuda, a 6' moray eel, and a 7' shark that happened to stroll by! This was Susan's first time at snorkeling on a reef but she did great, wasn't panicked by the "toothy" stuff, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole adventure.
